    映像化された映画版を観て、原作を読んでみようと思い購入しました。

    広末涼子は、慶応大学入学で騒がれた若いころから、この間抜け顔で何故人気があるのか理解できませんでした。

    そのような印象のせいで多くの出演作は見る気にならないものの、唯一受け入れることができたのが映画「鉄道員（ぽっぽや）」の主人公の娘役でした。あの娘が育っていれば … 。あまり知られていないが、進藤淳一プロデューサーの作品にはずれがない。

    原作は、広末涼子とはまったく無関係ではありました。

    映画化で誰もが知る「鉄道員」を中心に、さまざまなタイプの物語8編からなる傑作短編集。浅田次郎らしく感動的な作品が多いが、ホラーもありでバラエティに富んでいる。

    表題作が良いのは言うまでもないが、他のレヴュワーさんも触れられているように2話目の「ラブ・レター」の涙腺破壊力が抜群だ。正直、話が出来すぎではと感じたが、著者あとがきを読んでびっくりした。

    とても短い作品ながら人間の良心を描いた「ろくでなしのサンタ」もよいし、その他いずれの作品もクオリティが高いので大いにオススメしたい。

    物語の解釈を押し付けてくる巻末の解説はあまり好きではないのだが、本書の著者自身によるあとがきは絶対に読むべき。

    「ラブレター」と聞くと中山美穂さん主演の映画を思い浮かべる方が多いのかもしれないですが、私はこちらのお話を思い出します。

    とにかく白蘭が健気で健気で（そして物凄い美人。いいなあ）、手紙を読んでいると泣いてしまいます。

    個人的には「角筈にて」も大好きです。

    最後の神社のシーン、子どもの口調になる主人公の気持ちを想像すると胸が痛く、やっぱり泣いてしまいます。

    どうか奥様と遠い地でも幸せに暮らしていますように、と心から願っています。

    ● 映画「鉄道員」「ラブ・レター」を最近続けて見た。内容の濃さから、原作が短編とは思わなかったが、８作品を含む短編集の本書に原作が含まれている。

    ●「鉄道員」

    ⚫︎ 映画「鉄道員」：東映任侠映画で悪役中の一人を演じていた大部屋俳優小林稔侍が「ケンさん」を恩人と仰いでいたという。本映画は、その小林が、30年余を経て主役と対等の立場で共演しており、恩返しの出世記念作とも言えると思った。

    　高倉の演技は言うまでも無いが、終盤のわずかな出番で本作品の重要場面を創り出した広末涼子の存在も貴重（彼女の最近の交通事故を機にマスコミはアル事ナイ事を報じた。「有名人だから実名報道」との言い訳を見たが、有名無名を問わず実名報道する人権無視は周知のこと）。

    ⚫︎ 本書の「鉄道員」：映画よりも淡々とした記述が進む中で、ある頁をめくると、感動の一頁が現れる。

    ● 「ラブ・レター」

    ⚫︎ 映画「ラブ・レター」：偽装結婚相手の女性の死亡によって初めて訪れた、女性達のベッドが並ぶ部屋の場面を見て、次の本を思い出した。

    　弘中惇一郎『生涯弁護人　事件ファイル２』第二章の下館タイ女性殺人事件。

    1991年に起きた殺人事件。タイ人女性３人が逮捕され、1996年東京高裁で懲役８年の判決。殺されたのは、ホステスとして働く女性達の報酬をピンハネし、パスポートを取上げて自由を束縛し売春を強要していたタイ人女性。

    　被告たちは人身売買・強制売春を目的とするタイと日本の組織的犯罪の犠牲者であること、組織的犯罪の加害者を放置し、逃れるために犯行に至った被害者だけを罰するのは正義に反すること、暴力的監禁から逃れるための殺人であり正当防衛の拡張解釈があるべき、などの弁護側の主張の全てを控訴審は無視した。

    　最後に、他の人身売買問題（技能実習制度も上と同じ構造？）にも触れている。

    ⚫︎ 本書の「ラブ・レター」：著者あとがきは「奇跡の一巻」と題する。本作品についての奇跡とは、本書の執筆前に実際に起きた事件が題材となったことと言う。

    　執筆時期は下館事件の捜査・裁判の時期に重なる。しかし、小説でも映画でも殺しは起きない。また下館事件は偽装結婚とは無関係である。題材は別に有るのでないか？　

    　ChatGptクンに訊くと検索して（出典を挙げて）教えてくれた：この頃には、偽装結婚・人身売買に絡む事件が日本各地で起っていた。しかし、本作品の直接的モデルは見当らないという。作者は、個々の事件というより、これらの社会的問題を捉えて、本作品を「創作」したと思われる。

    　本作品も映画より単純な流れになっている。「夫」が「妻」の生活していた部屋を見ることも無い。映画では、結婚前に顔合わせし、「結婚」後にはホステスとして働く姿を遠目に見て、持参した指輪を預ける（指輪は霊安室にも火葬場にも現れる）。

    　チャランポランに暮して来て、親分の指示に従って偽装結婚も簡単に引受けて金をもらった主人公。死亡した「妻」の引取りの手続きが、警察や病院などで何の問題もなく日常的に扱われる内に激しい怒りと自省に襲われる。その妻の遺した、会ったことの無い夫への感謝と愛情にあふれる「ラブ・レター」。

    　人身売買・売春強要は今も続くが、日本社会の問題としては扱われず、ヒドイ悪人による個別の事件とされている。この主人公が怒りを感じ自ら反省した社会問題と個々人の無関心は、我々の現在にも言えると思う。

    ● 解説によると、他の作品にもそれぞれ支持者が多いとのこと。

    　上の２作品が傑出していると感じたのは個人的な好みもあるらしい。映画で感動して原作で期待外れとか、その逆も経験するが、この２作品に関しては、原作と映画、それぞれ独立して価値があると思う。
