Barbara Murphy, 49, selling fake Armani aftershave and socks on Facebook Live. // A scamming mum who made almost ?500k from selling fake luxury clothes using her own Facebook "shopping channel" has been jailed. Barbara Murphy, 49, sold counterfeit clothing items often for half the retail price from expensive brands such as Moncler, Armani, and Gucci to customers over social media, a court was told. The mum-of-two ran her scamming empire under a Facebook account called 'Barbie Murphy' from home in Skelmersdale, Lancashire., between 2021 and 2024. Items she sold also included fake Louis Vuitton necklaces and bracelets, Moncler scarf and hat sets, Hugo Jumpers, and illicit Premier League team football jerseys, like Liverpool FC. During that period, it was heard that if the items were genuine and sold legitimately by the brands, the stock would be worth around ?1.5 million, a crown court was told. Her bogus operation was foiled after police raided Murphy's property and found thousands of fake goods after a Lancashire Trading Standards officer ordered a number of Murphy's illicit items from her site. Sentencing Murphy to four years and four months' imprisonment at Preston Crown Court, Recorder John Richard Jones Jones K.C. said: "You knew the items you were selling were counterfeit, but you did not make that known."
