私はweber本社ではweber Cowboyと呼ばれていました😊
いつも被ってるカウボーイハットのせいですけどね。
この写真は2014年にシカゴのweber本社を訪ねた時のもの。
日本とアメリカのバーベキューフレンドシップで繋がっていたKCBSのWayneからweber社のレジェンドと呼ばれていたMikeさんをご紹介いただきweber社から正式に招待されました。
本社内部、weberAcademy、工場、レストランを丁寧にご案内いただきました。その後レストランで歓迎ディナー。
その時のMikeさんとの話が面白いので次回上げます。この時話の内容からweber社と日本バーベキュー協会の親密な関係が始まりましたから。
私の本社訪問目的はweber社を正式に日本に誘致するためでした。
日本のバーベキュー文化発展のためには並行輸入しかなかったweber製品を正式に日本に導入が必要があると思っていたからです。
その後もう一度シカゴ本社に訪問し、当時副社長に就任したばかりのBrian氏の初来日へとつながりその後の合意で2016年にweberJapanが正式に設立されたのでした。
最初は新橋の小さなシェアオフィスからスタートです。
日本バーベキュー協会とweber社との関係はまたアップします。

[The Story of Weber Japan]
At the Weber headquarters, I was known as the Weber Cowboy. 😊
It's because of the cowboy hat I always wear, though.
This photo was taken when I visited the weber headquarters in Chicago in 2014.
Through the barbecue friendship between Japan and the U.S., I was introduced to Mike, who was referred to as a legend at weber by Wayne from KCBS, and was officially invited by weber.
I was given a detailed tour of the headquarters, weber Academy, factory, and restaurant. After that, there was a welcome dinner at the restaurant.
The conversation I had with Mike at that time was very interesting, so I'll share it in my next post.
The purpose of my visit to the headquarters was to officially invite Weber to Japan.
I believed that officially introducing Weber products to Japan was necessary for the development of Japanese barbecue culture, as they were previously only available through parallel imports.
After that, I visited the Chicago headquarters again and connected with B Brian, who had just been appointed vice president at the time, during his first visit to Japan. Following the agreement reached then, weber Japan was officially established in 2016.
We started in a small shared office in Shinbashi.
The relationship between the Japan Barbecue Association and Weber Company will be updated later.
