I cried and cried until my eyes were swollen and burning all day Saturday. My 16 y/o son was struck and asked me what was wrong. I told him about the song, being my son, he's heard them all his life and is just discovering how music touches him. He knows how the sudden, tragic death of John Lennon impacted me (I was 14). He went and listened to Now & Then himself and later came and gave me a hug and said he gets it now, that you feel you know these people through their lyrics. He said it must feel like just for a moment, John and George were here again. åææ¥ã¯äžæ¥äžãç®ãè

I can't think of anyone who wasn't brought to tears listening to this. Now today's generation gets why their music was so inspiring/enlightening/powerful/emotional for those of us who grew up with the Beatles when they were still together, releasing music together. I sobbed like a baby the first time I heard the audio of this. I cried even harder the first time I watched the music video. This is/was the magic of the Beatles. And how they meant so much to so many of us. This - for me - was a gift of bringing John & George back from the beyond and into the present. At 62, I never, ever thought I would hear a NEW Beatles song again. Or experience the joy of a new song by them. ãããèŽããŠæ¶ãåºãªãã£ãè

I grew up with the Beatles as the background music of my life. When I was a child, I would watch the Beatles animation cartoon, and my parents would play their music. Some of my earliest memories involve the music of the Beatles. I can tell you where I was when I first heard "A Hard Day's Night" or that I was in Mexico the first time I heard "Here There And Everywhere" Or that I was in Pacoima, California the first time I heard "Come Together' and "Something". I saw Paul McCartney in Concert in Lubbock; Texas and my emotions overwhelmed me. The fact that I was able to share that moment with my son was priceless. And when it comes to John's death, I remember vividly watching Monday Night Football when Howard Cossell announced the murder of John Lennon on December 8, 1980, and I immediately felt numb inside. I had just purchased his latest album "Double Fantasy" and I loved it. Through the years I sometimes have a visceral reaction when I hear John's last songs from the 80s and I am actually grateful that I have them as it remind me what impact John and the Beatles have had to the quality of my life and I feel the world was enriched immensely by their presence. So, for you to get emotional as I did when I heard this last poignant beautiful song, I understand. The video of the making of "Now and Then" is truly beautiful and it left me in tears. Thank you for sharing this with us. åã¯ããŒãã«ãºãBGMã«ããŠè²ã£ããåäŸã®é ãããŒãã«ãºã®ã¢ãã¡ãèŠããšã䞡芪ã圌ãã®é³æ¥œãæµããŠãããã åã®æãå€ãèšæ¶ã«ã¯ãããŒãã«ãºã®é³æ¥œãå«ãŸããŠãããåããŠãA Hard Day's NightããèŽããæãåã¯ã©ãã«ããã®ããåããŠãHere There And EverywhereããèŽããæãåã¯ã¡ãã·ã³ã«ãããã ãåããŠãCome TogetherããšãSomethingããèŽããæãåã¯ã«ãªãã©ã«ãã¢ã®ãã³ã€ãã«ããã ããŒã«ã»ããã«ãŒãããŒã®ã³ã³ãµãŒãããããµã¹å·ã©ããã¯ã§èŠããšãã¯ãæåã§èžããã£ã±ãã«ãªã£ãã ãã®ç¬éãæ¯åãšå

Lauren, I had a very similar reaction. I was born in 1963, so I have been a Beatles fan since I was a baby. I was a senior in high school when John died, and it was the most devastating thing, I miss John and George to this day. I have been so fortunate to see both Paul and Ringo live, and I am so grateful for this new gift they have given us. What a beautiful way to celebrate the Beatles' legacy and honor the departed members. It is a beautiful song, and "haunting" is a great word to describe it. "Haunting" is the perfect word!!! I said the same thing. I've been a Beatles fanatic since I was 7... I'm 50 now. I know EVERY SONG inside out and backward! This song is 100% a Beatles song!
Listen to the harmonies in the background.... you'll hear the harmonies from "Here, There and Everywhere", "Elenor Rigby", and "Because"!!!!

Listening to this song has been a form of music therapy for me. I donât normally get emotional listening to music either but this has been an exception. When there is such trouble in the world today, the Beatles remind us they are still here to bring us joy and touch our souls. I think the song is truly beautiful, better than the Free as a Bird and Real Love which puts it amongst the greatness of their 60s output. At the same time, it also gives us a glimpse into what the Beatles would sound like if John and George had never passed on so soon. Bravo to all those involved. ãã®æ²ãèŽãããšã¯ãç§ã«ãšã£ãŠäžçš®ã®é³æ¥œçæ³ã ã æ®æ®µã¯é³æ¥œãèŽããŠææ

You're right it's haunting and melancholy and beautiful all at the same time. I also got choked up when I watched the short film and everything got silent and you heard John's voice after it was isolated. I think the emotional response was because it was a mixture of just hearing his familiar legendary voice come back to life so clean and clear from that old cassette tape. As if he had come back to life to do one last beautiful record with his old mates for all of us to hear and enjoy. And the way they setup the visual there in the empty recording studio overlooking the console while they played it added to the effect. Whoever did that video (Peter Jackson?) knew how to edit everything to push all the right emotional buttons for the viewer. But it was worth it. And the song does have that magical Beatles quality. That chord change at the beginning of the chorus that goes from G to B minor coupled with the melody John sings just gets me every time! It's so John Lennon! That's the part that sends chills through me every time and I think, "Oh yeah, I'm definitely listening to a Beatles song!" ããªãã®èšãéããå¿ãæºãã¶ããããšåæã«ãåæã垯ã³ãŠããŠçŸããããç§ãã·ã§ãŒããã£ã«ã ã芳ãæãå

Our UK generation
growing up with the Beatles from 1963 ish in the UK
it's amazing to hear them again & see the collage of pictures
it was not only the music though
on reflection from Revolver onwards
the clothes were in our minds from
every recording
every film
ever interview
we scrutinized their new GEAR
I am a great fanboy of John both in and out of the Beatles
as well as George
his music and actions became my favored one
Macca is great but the commercial band leader
Ringo was just in time forever
We all shed a tear
at 72 years young I have been influenced by the UK bands
the Stones' new album is also very good in a similar vein collage of old vid clips & cuts of rifts
seeing Charlie also is an emotional event
Young Gyles Martin & Jeff Lynne are part of this resurection :-))
we can play this tune
chords are not too difficult
It has a very positive message for 2023
I don't listen to much modern stuff
Rock on Lauren
keep it going
Thank you Ms mentor ð€ Hugs from all your student enthusiasts

Huge Beatles fan and cried uncontrollably when John was assassinated. I was only 5 when they came to the U.S. and was enveloped in Beatle-mania. My daughters, one born in â83 like you, and my second in â86 also love them. My 2nd gave me Abby Road vinyl for my 65th birthday because I had lost mine. I never saw them perform live together, but have seen Paul twice. Jeff Lynne (Electric Alight Orchestra) was behind âFree as a Birdâ, bringing Johnâs vocals posthumously into that song and you can hear his influence in Now and Then, in which he shares production credit. Pure genius and what an amazing friendship. 倧ã®ããŒãã«ãºãã¡ã³ã§ããžã§ã³ãæ殺ãããæã¯æããæ³£ããŠããŸã£ãã 圌ããã¢ã¡ãªã«ã«æ¥ãæãç§ã¯ãŸã 5æ³ã§ãããŒãã«ããã¢ã«å

It's such a lovely song, knowing that my two favorite Beatles are gone but this song brings back so many memories of my teen years, I'm 70 and will always be a Beatles fan. I think John had Paul in mind when he wrote this song. The Beatles mean so much to me. My wife and I were both born in 75 with completely different upbringings (been with a beautiful wife for 27 years). Her family was Peter Paul and Mary, Chicago etc and my parents were the Beatles, Hendrix, Joplin etc. John Lennon is one of those people that is important to me and means so much to me. Losing that beautiful mind he had at such a young age is a waste and his voice also makes me emotional (don't look at me when I'm listening to "Mother"ð¢ð). It was a tough listen last Friday. My son asked if I had heard it and I hadn't so put it on. I did see on the news in the UK that people were at the Cavern for the first listen. As soon as it started up I felt that lump in my throat. I just had to go and get the chords down and play the intro of it. So sad and it's just such a waste - what could have been - I think it's also because you know the end is approaching and they are getting that bit older. I feel that with Free As a Bird though not as haunting as this is.
Watching the video was great with John messing about which is how I always think he probably was - thinking back to watching Get Back. An Am and an Em (at the start) and John's voice and that's all it takes. Master songwriters.

Saw their first tv performance in black and white in England way back in the early sixties. I was maybe 13 and turned to my brother and said they're great, but those haircuts will never catch on. 18 months later, we were both in bands sporting mop tops. Thanks, lads, I can't imagine how dull life would have been without you. ããªãåã«ãªãã60幎代åæã«ã€ã®ãªã¹ã§ã圌ãã®æåã®ãã¬ãããã©ãŒãã³ã¹ãçœé»ã§èŠããåã¯13æ³ãããã§ãå

My mom has a giant stack of Beatles trading cards that she collected as a teenager in love with this new sensation from the UK. My son just learned "Something" by the Beatles. His teacher likes to teach it because it teaches them 17 different chords. I learned Yesterday as my first guitar song as a kid. By the way, it is hard for me to watch a pretty young lady cry. In a way, Lauren, I'm pleased for you that you were born after John was murdered. It was horrible, John was murdered just because some ****wipe wanted to be famous. You didn't have to experience that particular grief and loss; by bringing guitar lessons to all of us, and making it accessible for us, in a way that even I can follow, you honor his memory. ããæå³ãããŒã¬ã³ããžã§ã³ã殺ãããåŸã«ããªããçãŸããŠããã£ããšæããããžã§ã³ã殺ãããã®ã¯ããã ãã****ãªã¯ãºãæåã«ãªãããã£ãã ãã®çç±ã ã£ãã ããªãã¯ãã®ãããªç¹å¥ãªæ²ãã¿ãåªå€±æãçµéšããå¿

Lauren, John wrote this as a love song to Paul McCartney. The last thing John said to Paul in person when he was leaving John's house was "Think of me every now and then, won't you?" No one who knows the meaning of this song can listen to it without breaking down. Notice how the band fades away right after the final bow, then a few seconds later the lighted Beatles sign goes out as well, signifying that even the band will eventually be gone as well.ããŒã¬ã³ããžã§ã³ã¯ããŒã«ã»ããã«ãŒãããŒãžã®ã©ããœã³ã°ãšããŠãã®æ²ãæžãããã ããžã§ã³ã®å®¶ãåºããšãããžã§ã³ãããŒã«ã«çŽæ¥èšã£ãæåŸã®èšèã¯ããããŸã«ã¯åã®ããšãèããŠãããããªã£ïŒãã ã£ãããã®æ²ã®æå³ãç¥ã£ãŠãã人ãªãããã®æ²ãèŽããŠå¿ãæããªã人ã¯ããªãã ãããæåŸã®ãèŸåã®çŽåŸã«ãã³ãããã§ãŒãã¢ãŠããããã®æ°ç§åŸã«ç¹ç¯ããŠããããŒãã«ãºã®çæ¿ãæ¶ããã®ã¯ããã³ãããããŠãªããªãããšãæå³ããŠããã

A friend of mine and I cut school to go see the Beatles at Shea Stadium in New York. I have that ticket in pristine condition. It was a wild scene with girls jumping over police barricades to run toward second base where the stage was set up. The sound wasn't perfect but it was a great experience rivaled only by the original Woodstock concert I attended in Bethel NY. My future wife was there but we didn't meet until four years later. It turns out her cousin was Carl Perkins. ãã¥ãŒãšãŒã¯ã®ã·ã¢ã¹ã¿ãžã¢ã ã«ããŒãã«ãºã芳ã«è¡ãããã«ãåéãšåã¯åŠæ ¡ããµãã£ãããã®ãã±ããã¯ããããªç¶æ

Iâm 40 and I love the Beatles. I just love the song, the piano is amazing, the slide guitar was perfect and I really love the string arraignment that Giles did. What gets me is the âI miss youâ line. I feel that it connects to so many people because the song might remind you of a friend or family member who has passed. I know it did for me, my last grandparent passed away earlier this year. It was before my birthday and we actually had her services on my birthday. åã¯40æ³ã ãã©ããŒãã«ãºã倧奜ãã ããã¢ãã¯çŽ æŽãããããã¹ã©ã€ãã®ã¿ãŒã¯å®ç§ã ããGilesããã£ãã¹ããªã³ã°ã¹ã®ã¢ã¬ã³ãžãæ¬åœã«å¥œãã ã ã°ããšæ¥ãã®ã¯ãI miss youãã®æè©ã®æã ãã®æ²ãèŽããšã亡ããªã£ãåéã家æã®ããšãæãåºãããã ç¥ç¶ã¯ä»å¹Žã®åãã«äº¡ããªã£ãã åã®èªçæ¥ã®åã«äº¡ããªã£ããã ããã©ãè¬åã¯åã®èªçæ¥ã«å·ãè¡ã£ãã

Thanks, LB. I personally enjoyed the 12-minute film even more than the song, a song truly John Lennon-ish of the late 1970s. John and Yoko bought a farm near my hometown in the 70s. One of my childhood friends used to go there to tune Yokoâs grand piano. He said the couple were very pleasant and welcoming. On a sad note, Mark David Chapman comes up for yet another parole hearing in February. We NY-ers have had the âprivilege â to provide for his sustenance over the past 43 years. One can only âimagine â what could have been. LBãããããšããå人çã«ã¯ã12åã®ã·ã§ãŒããã€ã«ã ã®ã»ããæ²ããæããã ããã©ãæ²èªäœã¯70幎代åŸåã®ãžã§ã³ã»ã¬ãã³ãœãæ²ã ã£ãããžã§ã³ãšãšãŒã³ã¯70幎代ã«ç§ã®æ

Lauren, when I was in film school and was making my thesis, mine was The Power of the Soundtrack and How Songs Make or Break a Movie. It is fundamentally one of the most driving elements in the whole movie. Anthony Minghella, the director of Cold Mountain, said that the music was its own character. And that is true for many others. I don't want to make this long, but the point is that music like any other art is spiritual, in that it has the power to evoke emotions. And we know where and what you came out of, you are more than just a survivor. And you don't take the gift of life lightly.
And this is another reason why you are so loved by your followers, because you display more than just "play this chord, then that chord and then do all these other things" like others do.
