1. 語の文法的機能を明確にする　(3) 目的格補語　object complement

1) The news made him happy.

     その知らせは彼を幸せにした

1) の文章で、happy の文法的機能を考える。
まず him の文法的機能を考えると、これは made の目的である。
つまり him は目的格である（英単語の形から明らかであるが）。
him が happy になった、という文である。
つまり、him = happy、であり、happy は him を説明している。
故に、このような happy の文法的機能を、made の 目的格補語　と呼ぶ

2) We call him Tom.

私たちは彼をトムと呼ぶ

2) ではどうか。
him の文法的機能は、と問われたら、これは、call の目的　である。
更に Tom の文法的機能は、と問われたら、call の目的格補語　と答えると良い。

3)  I found this book interesting.　

私はこの本がとても興味深いことが分かった。

3) ではどうか。
book（または this book） の文法的機能は、と問われたら、これは、found の目的　と答える。
更に interesuting の文法的機能は、と問われたら、found の目的格補語　と答えると良い。

ポイント：
　いわゆるこれは、第５文型 ( S + V + O + C）である。
　第５文型だ、という捉え方は文章全体を見た捉え方。
　しかし今、ここで紹介しているやり方は、語や語句の文法的機能を考える方法であって、英文解釈の勉強を進めて行く場合文法的機能を考える方が実践的である。

I found the test easy.

問：test ( the test)の文法的機能は何か   
　　easy の文法的機能は何か

The students painted the wall yellow.

問：wall ( the wall)の文法的機能は何か
　　yellow の文法的機能は何か

John often leaves the door open.　

問：door ( the door)の文法的機能は何か
　　open の文法的機能は何か

They elected Kate captain of their team.

問：kateの文法的機能は何か
　    captain (captain of their team)の文法的機能は何か

We believe him honest.

問：himの文法的機能は何か
       honest の文法的機能は何か

I found the test easy.

私はそのテストは優しいということが分かった。

問：test ( the test)の文法的機能は何か   　答：found の目的
　　easy の文法的機能は何か　　　答：found の目的格補語

その学生はその壁を黄色く塗った。
