#14  Having thus given its literal significance, I may be allowed henceforth to use the word in the original.

私の訳：その言葉の意味を明かにした上で、これから原語でこの語を用いることを許してもらいたい。

the original について
originalは、「原文の」という意味の形容詞。
これにthe がつくと「原語」と名詞のように訳して当たるものである。
例）The true = truth.  （真）
　　The good = goodness. （善）
　　The beautiful = beauty. （美）

矢内原訳：かく字義を明かにした以上、これから原語でこの語を用ふることを許してもらひたい。

櫻井訳：されば此 字の如きは、之を他國の語に譯して妥當なる能はず。
