DJI Flip、

Mountain Trip with DJI Flip: A Spontaneous Afternoon at Mt. Nokogiri
Hello, I'm Abu, your Mountain Trip Advisor.
Yesterday morning, I was editing a video of Mt. Hakusan that I filmed recently.
As I was cutting clips and adding subtitles, looking at the mountain scenery...
I suddenly felt a strong urge: "I really want to fly my drone!"
The weather looked promising, so I decided to head to a nearby mountain.
So, in the afternoon, I headed to Mt. Nokogiri in my hometown, Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture.
A Casual Afternoon Trip to Mt. Nokogiri
Mt. Nokogiri is relatively easy to access from downtown Nagaoka, making it a perfect spot for a spontaneous trip.
This time, my goal wasn't a "hardcore hike," but rather:
"Climb the mountain and fly the drone."
I packed my usual hiking gear and my drone into my backpack.
Even on the same mountain, the sense of excitement changes when your purpose is a bit different.
Taking Off with the DJI Flip from the Summit
Once I reached the summit, it was time for the main event.
DJI Flip, take off!
Usually, I enjoy the mountain views while walking on my own two feet, but as the drone soared into the sky, the scenery changed instantly.
The summit and the ridgeline of Mt. Nokogiri.
The landscape of Nagaoka stretching out beyond.
Looking down at where I was standing from the sky, I was genuinely moved:
"So this is what my usual mountain looks like from above!"
Hiking + Drones.
This is going to be a very fun combination.
An Encounter with an Amateur Radio Enthusiast
Another highlight of this trip was an encounter at the summit.
I met someone who was enjoying amateur radio. Sending out radio waves from the mountaintop to communicate with people far away—it’s different from drones, but it seemed fascinating in its own way.
We chatted for a bit, and I even had the chance to exchange business cards.
These unexpected encounters are part of what makes mountains so interesting.
I came to fly a drone, but I ended up discovering a whole new world.
I’ve put together a short 45-second video of the drone footage I captured.
It shows a slightly different side of Mt. Nokogiri than what you see from the summit.
Please take a look and enjoy the view!
A New Way to Enjoy the Mountains
What started as a sudden urge while editing videos in the morning turned into a wonderful afternoon at Mt. Nokogiri.
Hiking, flying a drone, and meeting new people.
It turned out to be a fantastic half-day.
Going to famous or distant mountains is great, of course.
But even with a familiar local mountain, bringing a camera or a drone can reveal a completely different way to enjoy it.
From now on, I want to continue enjoying my mountain trips by combining "climbing" with photography, video, and drones.
See you on the next trip!
