How can I request some help from the Editing Team?
If you want to request any work from the team, pcreate a ticket in Phabricator and tag it with “#Editing-team.” Using the "Editing-team" tag will move the ticket to the “Untriaged” column for the Editing-team Board. The Editing team will review the tickets in this column and pick up those that they can work on.

What if the issue is urgent?
Reach out to @ppelberg or @Esanders directly for help.

I found a bug on a discussion page for an article. Can you please check it out?

If you think you've spotted a bug, create a ticket and use the tag Editing-team as you would any request. For bugs, please also include steps to reproduce the bug so we can test the issue.

I did consider that initially, but I wasn't sure whether that's a good idea, as there won't be any deprecation warnings before the breaking change. It would certainly be a lot easier to go this route though.

I think that's be acceptable and less disruptive. I'm honestly okay with either approach, though.

We should make sure not to use them for anything that expects to run for API edits, and probably document a breaking change that they will no longer be executed for API edits, but for hook handlers that only handle "normal" web edits (like the ones in WikiEditor), these hooks seem fine (not great, but no worse than e.g. AlternateEditPreview).

I can't reproduce the issue using Firefox (or any other browser) on iOS, might be specific to Firefox on Android. Reminds me of several other issues with VisualEditor and references, that are apparently specific to Firefox (which makes me think Firefox is to blame):
