    　＜ある日。＞という出だしの一行から、するすると滑り出し、日常の身辺の出来事を気ままに拾い上げていく日記です。1988年（昭和63年）６月から、1991年（平成３年）４月にわたって、『マリ・クレール』誌に連載した文章＋αを本にしたもの。

    　著者の文章を、今回はじめて読んだのですが、気さくな人柄がそのままに伝わってくる文章のたたずまいがいいですね。よそ行きの御馳走じゃない、ご飯とお味噌汁、お新香と塩鮭の焼いたの、それに焼海苔がいくつかとお茶みたいな、普段着でさっくりとした味わいの語り口。

    　「しなやかで、みずみずしい感受性が、いいなあ」「人間て、いいなあ」と、生き生きとして飾らない文章に触れていくうちに、なんだかしみじみしてきちゃいました。

    　池袋の文芸坐地下劇場で松本清張の『砂の器』を観た＜ある日。＞。ヒトの年齢で数えれば百歳になる玉（飼猫）が死んだ＜ある日。＞。富士北麓の夏、大岡昇平の家で夫妻と一緒にテレビを見た＜ある日。＞。うっかりして、Ｈ（娘で、写真家の花さん）の財布を地べたに置き忘れてしまった＜ある日。＞。

    　なかでも印象的で、何ということもなく懐かしい思いに誘われた日記です。

    　でも、一番味わい深く、心にしんと染みてきたのは、おしまいの二行でした。

    ＜部屋のテレビで、ベルイマンの映画を延々と深夜まで観た。ベルイマンの映画をみていると、夫婦っていいなあ、と思う。＞（p.251）

    基本的に「ある日」という出だしではじまる日々の雑記。

    出かけた場所で出会ったひとびとをつづった文章はユーモアに溢れてはいるものの、結構残酷ですらある。モデルになったひとたちが自分について書かれた箇所を読んだら、うれしい気持ちにはなれないのではないかと思わないでもないが、この残酷さは作者自身にも向けられるから嫌味な文章では全くない。

    『富士日記』と比べて、この『日日雑記』は全体的に寂しさが色濃い本である。『富士日記』も、下巻は、夫の泰淳がどんどん衰弱していく姿が描かれていて、最後は悲しくならないではいられないのだが、それでもあの本にはまだ生気があった。対して、この『日日雑記』は大切な人たちや身近な人たちに先立たれて、この世に残されたものの孤独みたいなものが底流にある。泰淳のハエタタキの逸話やら妻子にお金を渡す泰淳を回想する作者の姿はせつない。

    「部屋のテレビで、ベルイマンの映画を延々と深夜まで観た。ベルイマンの映画をみていると。夫婦っていいなぁ、と思う。」という文章がラストなのがいい。

    こんなにも淡々と書かれた日記を私は今までに読んだ事がない。

    しかし、その何気ない文章の中から彼女の目を通して見えたモノ、匂い、音、空気感などがふわりと読み手に伝わってくる。

    それは決して押しつけなどではない。

    読み終わった後にゆったりとした余韻の様なものを感じられる一冊。

    武田百合子という女性をもっと知りたいと思った。
