    愛犬ラブラドールが旅立って、悲しみの底から抜け出せずにいた時、知人が紹介してくれました。悲しさがまさって言葉になって出てこないで私たち飼い主の気持ちが言葉にされていると感じ、新たな悲しみを覚えると同時に、そうすることで大きな癒しをいただいたように思います。感情を、、、で読者に甘えて推測させたり、曖昧な体言止めで余韻を残すなどの、体験記にありそうな文体ではなくて、「〜なのである。」のように、文末までしっかり文章をしめくくる著書の筆致が、感情に溺れない客観性を与えて、逆に著者の心境が100%以上伝わる、名文だと思いました。柴犬と飼っていたラブラドールの性質や行動の違いが面白く、著者が存命であれば、「こうすれば犬は呼べば必ず戻って来ますよ」とアドヴァイスしたくなりました。
