It all began towards the end of last year after receiving the VITEEE application form. While the procedure for filling in applications for other exams is usually straightforward, filling in personal information for VITEEE requires slot booking. This is done after submitting the application. The most important step during this period is slot booking, which is done a couple of weeks before the exam. Slot booking needs to be done promptly if one is to book their preferred exam date and slot, since it may be taken up quickly. Thankfully, I was able to secure a slot at the exam centre early in the day.
Exam Day and the Anxiety for Its Outcome
As regards the test procedure, one can describe it as somewhat a speed test since you get 125 questions in total to complete in 150 minutes in terms of such disciplines as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and Aptitude. Since there is no negative marking in the examination, I had planned on attempting all the questions but giving priority to those subjects in which I was stronger.
After completing the test, the real anxiety began for me since VIT declares ranks, not percentiles or marks. After the declaration of ranks, I became eligible for online counseling process.
Understanding VIT’s Counselling and Category System
Counselling at VIT is fully online and phased, depending on your ranks. One thing about VIT which can be quite confusing for applicants is their “Category System” from Category 1 to 5. In simple terms, it means that if you have the lower category, your annual tuition fee will also be low.
When my particular phase was open, I had to log in to their portal and fill out my choices. This is the point where you need to prioritise your ranking based on campus, branches, and categories. My aim here was very simple: Computer Science & Engineering (CSE).
Seat Allotment and Final Admission
Now comes the period when you have to wait for a few days for your allotment. The day when I saw the results, stating “Allotted: Computer Science and Engineering at VIT-AP", it was a big relief for me.
After your seat gets allotted, the institution provides a very tight deadline within which you must pay the advance amount as a fee for your seat confirmation. This deadline is typically only 10 to 15 days. In case the candidate misses the deadline, he/she loses his/her seat, and it goes to the next student. After paying the advance amount, I got my admission letter and submitted all required documents, such as 10th & 12th mark sheets and certificates, online.
My Recommendations for Aspirants of the Future
If you have been contemplating applying for VIT, then there are two important aspects you must take care of. Firstly, you should not goof up on the filling process during counseling sessions. This means that you must already know your choice before appearing at the counseling session. Secondly, you should get prepared with all your documentation and money immediately after the results come out since the window period is limited.
