PowerPoint Designer is an AI-powered feature that automatically suggests professional layouts for your slides. It analyzes the text, images, charts, or lists on a slide and offers multiple design options that improve visual arrangement, spacing, and overall appearance.
Steps to Use PowerPoint Designer
Step 1: Open your presentation and select the slide you want to improve.
Step 2: Add your content (text, images, charts, or lists) using the slide placeholders.

Step 3: Go to the Design tab.

Step 4: Click Designer (in some versions it may appear as Design Suggestions or Design Ideas).

Step 5: A panel will open on the right side of the screen showing several design options.

Step 6: Click any suggestion to apply it instantly to the slide.

Step 7: If you want more options, scroll down in the panel and select See more Design Ideas.

You can switch between different suggestions until you find the one that works best.
When Designer Works Best
Designer provides stronger suggestions when you:
- Use the built-in slide placeholders instead of free-floating text boxes
- Add one or more images
- Include a list of items or dates
- Keep the slide content relatively clean and organized
It is especially useful for:
- Title slides
- Image + text combinations
- Process or timeline content
- Bullet point lists
- Photo-heavy slides
