Quest 3 of AI Quests is officially live! 🧠✨ Inspired by over a decade of our connectomics and neuroscience research, "Polar Peaks" invites students to step into the shoes of researchers mapping neural pathways in the brain. Created in collaboration with the Stanford Accelerator for Learning, the quest shows teens how human judgment shapes responsible AI. Dive in below through the announcement by Ronit Levavi Morad! 👇
Hot off the press! Quest 3 of AI Quests is officially LIVE—and this time, students are mapping the human brain! Created by Google Research in collaboration with the Stanford Accelerator for Learning, “Polar Peaks” is our newest interactive quest designed to teach teens how AI works and how to use it responsibly through hands-on scientific discovery. The human brain is one of the most complex and fascinating systems known to science. In "Polar Peaks," students step into the shoes of AI researchers trying to accelerate the extremely complex task of scanning and mapping neural pathways in the brain. Inspired by over a decade of neuroscience research at Google—including our team's recent milestone in mapping the complete male fruit fly brain—students clean data and test models in a code-free environment, learning firsthand how human judgment is critical when using AI. From flood forecasting in Quest 1 to eye disease detection in Quest 2, and now brain mapping in Quest 3, students aren't just learning research concepts—they're seeing how human decisions shape AI's real-world impact. Seeing this project grow from an initial concept on paper to a global program, localized in 10 languages to-date, with more than 400,000 quests completed across the series, has been extremely rewarding for me. To support educators leading these programs, we're introducing new dedicated teacher training modules for Polar Peaks, coming in November within the Google AI Educator Series. Sponsoring this initiative and working alongside our incredible research teams, educators, creative partners at Phantom, and our amazing pedagogical partners at the Stanford Accelerator for Learning has been an absolute honor. Thank you to Yossi Matias for continuous support and leadership in education. Thank you to everyone who poured their heart into making this dream a reality. This is how we help the next generation understand how AI works, use it responsibly, and find inspiration to solve real-world problems.
