Ubuntu 26.10 "Stonking Stingray" is now officially available as the newest six-month non-LTS update to Ubuntu Linux.

Ubuntu 26.10 brings a wealth of package updates following the Ubuntu 26.04 LTS release in April. There is the Linux 7.3 kernel in its near-final state, the GNOME 51 desktop and other updated desktop options, the Rust-based Coreutils transition is now fully completed, improved TPM-backed full-disk encryption support, improved enterprise authentication, and many other updated package versions like Mesa 26.2 graphics drivers.

Ubuntu 26.10 also offers a tech preview of the new Myna speech-to-text functionality as part of Canonical's efforts to develop a contextual-aware desktop.

Ubuntu 26.10 also debuts RISC-V desktop images, optimized amd64v3 install images, and more. Ubuntu 26.10 has been offering some nice performance improvements over Ubuntu 26.04 LTS in my benchmarking thanks to the newer kernel and other updated components.

Edubuntu, Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu Budgie, Ubuntu Cinnamon, Ubuntu Kylin, Ubuntu MATE, Ubuntu Studio, Ubuntu Unity, and Xubuntu have also seen 26.10 releases today alongside the official Ubuntu images.
