Around the Oval – Summer 2026
With the celebration of Colorado’s 150th birthday, the Summer 2026 edition of Around the Oval features Rams who pour their talents into the Centennial State through their work and passions. Raised in 4-H – and now leading it – siblings Jaime Goza (B.A., ’12) and Jackie Shea (B.A., ’20) guide the next generation of youth across Colorado’s Western Slope, proving the program’s lessons extend far beyond the show ring; natural resources alumna, Kait Evensen (B.S., ’18), sews seeds of hope as an artist and environmental steward; CSU alumni artists Stephen Shachtman (B.F.A., ’02) and Jan Carson (M.F.A., ’98) returned to campus to create a largescale public art installation at Ann Gill Hall, blending steel, stone, and textile work to reflect connection, conversation, and community across the College of Liberal Arts; a serendipitous experience in Scotland inspired Colorado attorney Dave Bower (B.S., B.A., ’03) to reflect on his past as a CSU scholarship recipient and help generosity flow forward for future generations; and finally Michelle Martinez Thomas (B.A., ’00), Craig Welling (B.S., ’95), Susan Blanco (B.S., ’00), and Gilbert Román (B.A., ’84) – four Colorado judges, four wildly different paths to the bench.
