Welcome
[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few links to pages you might find helpful:
- Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with what Wikipedia is and is not. Wikipedia is not just another news, forum, blog/webhost, promotional/advertising/directory, or social networking site. It is a place for serious, collaborative, scholarly assembly of knowledge about notable subjects into a high-quality encyclopedia, with verifiable references to independent, reliable sources. Many people come here with other expectations and have a difficult time as a result.
- Introduction and Getting started
- Contributing to Wikipedia
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page and How to develop articles
- Simplified Manual of Style
Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by adding a space and four tildes to the end of the last line of your post, like this:
This is the last line of the post. ~~~~
The tildes will be automatically converted to a signature that contains your linked username and a timestamp to help keep conversations organized. I will sign mine accordingly with hopes you will remember me and will feel free to ask me any questions you have--or just say hi! Jenhawk777 (talk) 18:13, 15 October 2025
Pending changes reviewer granted
[edit]
Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.
Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

Rollback granted
[edit]
Hi Dafootballguy. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:
- Being granted rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or Ultraviolet. It just adds a [rollback] button next to a page's latest live revision. It does not grant you any additional "status" on Wikipedia, nor does it change how Wikipedia policies apply to you.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear and unambiguous cases of vandalism only. Never use rollback to revert good faith edits. For more information about when rollback is appropriate, see Wikipedia:Rollback § When to use rollback.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war, and it should never be used in a content-related dispute to restore the page to your preferred revision. If rollback is abused or used for this purpose or any other inappropriate purpose, the permission will be revoked.
- Use common sense. If you're not sure about something, ask!
I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, and feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate use of rollback. If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin) and Wikipedia:Rollback. Good luck and thanks! * Pppery * it has begun... 15:28, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
DYK for Valentin Senn
[edit]On 2 May 2026, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Valentin Senn, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that NFL player Valentin Senn used to play the trumpet in the Swarovski Orchestra? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Valentin Senn. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Valentin Senn), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to nominate it.
New page reviewer granted
[edit]
Hi Dafootballguy, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the new page reviewer user right to your account. This means you now have access to the page curation tools and can start patrolling pages from the new pages feed. If you asked for this at requests for permissions, please check back there to see if your access is time-limited or if there are other comments.
This is a good time to re-acquaint yourself with the guidance at Wikipedia:New pages patrol. Before you get started, please take the time to:
- Add Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers to your watchlist to follow NPP-related discussions
- If you use Twinkle, configure it to log your CSDs and PRODs
- If you can read any languages other than English, add yourself to the list of reviewers with language proficiencies
You can find a list of other useful links and tools for patrollers at Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Resources. If you are ever unsure what to do, ask your fellow patrollers or just leave the page for someone else to review â you're not alone! signed, Rosguill talk 17:23, 24 July 2026 (UTC)

| Thanks for pulling through with the review of Anthony Beauvillier. It's quite a long article! Sorry I wasn't more help at the review. I didn't find the time to add my own comments as I was quite busy at the time. IAWW (talk) 14:03, 18 August 2026 (UTC) |

I have sent you a note about a page you started
[edit]Hi Dafootballguy. Thank you for your work on John Pope (fl.1419â1421). Another editor, Mariamnei, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:
Thank you for your work on this article. Please add more sources and expand this article. Thanks and have a good day!
To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Mariamnei}}. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

- @Mariamnei isn't this the same as John Pope (fl. 1384â1397)? In solidarity, Dafootballguy (Want to talk?) 03:28, 4 November 2026 (UTC)
- @Dafootballguy - I don't know this subject so well, but on the "History of Parliament" website cited in the footnote, they are referred to as as Pope John I and Pope John II. Mariamnei ⌠reach out đď¸ 06:49, 4 November 2026 (UTC)
- @Mariamnei I meant that the article is written nearly identically to the aforementioned one, which was marked as patrolled without any tags. In solidarity, Dafootballguy (Want to talk?) 04:35, 5 November 2026 (UTC)
- @Dafootballguy - I was not involved in that article are I would argue that this is a WP:OTHERTHINGS argument. Have a wonderful day! Mariamnei ⌠reach out đď¸ 07:44, 5 November 2026 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter â November 2026
[edit]News and updates for administrators from the past month (October 2026).

- Following an RfC, election to ArbCom now requires at least 60% support. Successful candidates normally serve two-year terms, with one-year terms retained for filling vacancies. Proposals to change the election rules may now be added throughout the year and discussed on the talk page; formal discussion remains in September.
- Following an RfC, first-time reviewersâ reviews require an experienced reviewerâs check, and GA requirements now include alt text and accessible tables. Featured articles may receive GA status during removal discussions if they meet GA criteria. Backlog drives will run every five months, with a points leaderboard and awards for the top five participants.
- Self-nominations for the Arbitration Committee are open until 11 November 2026.
- Ongoing backlog drives: Copy editing, Unreference articles

Weekly highlight
- Many Wikimedia tools were taken offline last week because of a security vulnerability in PHP. This affected many websites worldwide. Toolforge and Cloud VPS have been back up since October 22. Many important tools have been gradually restored. Some tools need the respective volunteer maintainers to restart them. Others still need to upgrade to a patched PHP version. Some tools were using older versions of PHP which are not supported by the recent security patches. They will require maintainers to upgrade to a more recent version. This might require additional effort. You can follow the work on Wikitech.
Updates for editors
- A new optional search experiment is running in the Wikipedia Android and iOS apps for Arabic, French, and Japanese Wikipedias. Participating readers can search inside articles and open quoted passages directly in their source articles, no answers or summaries are generated. This is the first of four experiments in Phase 2 of Semantic Search. It began on October 22 and runs for 20 days. Feedback is welcome on the projectâs discussion page.
- The Future Audiences team is planning to bring Share Cards to Wikipedia on mobile. This feature gives users the option to share a visually appealing card with friends, based on the article they are reading. The card contains the articleâs title, image, opening text, and related attribution, and links back to the article for full reading. Editors are invited to try out this feature by adding
?useformat=mobile&sharecard=1to any article URL from October 29 to November 8. Share any thoughts on the project talk page and report any bugs on Phabricator. - The default renderer for math formulas will change on November 2. After the change, the server sends the formula as MathML, and your browser uses MathJax to show it. This is the last step towards the Mathoid/RESTBase deprecation process, for sustainability and security reasons. You can ask questions or report problems.
- Do you have an idea for a new feature, or a bug that needs fixing? Submit your suggestion for the community wish list by November 8!

Hi Dafootball guy I am new to Wikipedia accounts and I was wondering if you can tell me about what I should create should I make a wiki about my school or about my heritage --BennyNAR (talk) 23:03, 3 November 2026 (UTC)
- There is an issue with making an article about those. You have a Conflict of interest with those topics. In solidarity, Dafootballguy (Want to talk?) 03:27, 4 November 2026 (UTC)

What should I do?
[edit]A while back, I saw a user making mean comments towards Wikipedia editors on Talk:WD J1330+6435 and tried to use Twinkle to report it. I sent a warning to the wrong administrator board, ended up undoing the request, and just decided to forget about it. Little did I know, Twinkle informed the user (~2026-56740-58) and I never knew until they responded today telling me to "shut the hell up". I'm not sure what to do and i'm concerned about them coming back and attacking other editors. Any advice or help would be extremely appreciated.

- (also, im on mobile, it added the second signature automatically. Whoops...) Ren âş (Talk) 22:28, 4 November 2026 (UTC)
- @Rencoolguy I would bring this to ANI. This likely isn't enough to warrant a block at AIV, but it sounds be brought to the attention of an admin. In solidarity, Dafootballguy (Want to talk?) 04:39, 5 November 2026 (UTC)
