Organized Labour September Editing Event
[edit]
You're invited to join the Organized Labour community editing event, a cross-wiki event taking place throughout September 2026!
The campaign brings together Wikimedians interested in improving coverage of organised labour, workers, trade unions, and labour history. We have confirmed collaborations with Wikipedia language editions in English, Dutch, Persian, Serbo-Croatian and French. If you want to add other language editions or other wiki projects you are strongly encouraged to do so! This event spans geography and languages!
This is a one-time invitation. You're receiving it because you previously signed a petition related to Wiki Workers United (WWU). We hope you'll join us!

Draft hasn't been edited in 5 months
[edit]Hi Yojo98! I noticed that you made this draft some time ago, and haven't edited it since April of this year. On Wikipedia, any draft that hasn't been edited in 6 months becomes eligible for deletion under criterion G13. I made a little edit for it by adding a warning to save your draft. If you want to keep your draft, you should keep working on it to submit it for review. If you don't want it anymore, you can nominate it for a speedy deletion. Just a heads-up message. Reptileraptor52 (talk) 21:54, 3 September 2026 (UTC)
- hey! I actually made the article, but didn't go through AfC for it! See Marshall Avenue station. Would you recommend that I blank the page myself, or wait for it to be deleted? Yojo98 (talk) 00:10, 4 September 2026 (UTC)
- Oh alright! I did AfC for a while before switching to just making them myself. I'd recommend that you blank the page or nominate it for deletion as you already made the page for it, but ultimately it's your decision as you made it. Reptileraptor52 (talk) 00:21, 4 September 2026 (UTC)
Hi, just to let you know that I'm running The Asia-Oceania Destubathon in November in support of Wikipedia:Asia Month. £2000 (about $2,689.54) in prizes. As you signed up for the Destubathon of the Americas, letting you know first. Sign up if interested! ⌠Dr. Blofeld 16:33, 16 September 2026 (UTC)

[edit]Arguing that adding a single month violates "brevity" makes no sense. You are adding a single word, not a paragraph. Player X in April 2026" is just as punchy and scannable as "Player X in 2026â. There are 12 months in a single calendar year and basketball or football or hockey seasons make up parts of two calendar years and humans get a year older every year. Per MOS:CURRENT, specific months are explicitly preferred over vague seasonal language to maintain clarity. Captions are meant to provide immediate context to the reader. Suggesting that readers can simply click through to Wikimedia Commons to find the month ignores standard user behavior, especially on mobile devices. If a piece of informationâlike the specific month in a split sports season like 2018-19 or 2019-20 or 2025-26 is necessary to understand the subject's timeline, it belongs in the text of the article's caption, not just hidden in the file metadata. Thanks for your attention to this matter. ~2026-50988-24 (talk) 13:09, 22 September 2026 (UTC)
- Fair point about the Malkin page, this is the kind of thing that hopefully you can add in the future in your WP:EDITSUMMARY when making a change of substance to an article. I'd also point out that MOS:CURRENT applies to the text of articles primarily, guidance specifically on infobox captions (MOS:CAPLENGTH) overrides it. Plenty of pages on here feature a picture with only the year, not the month (see today's FA, Alison Frantz, for example).
- I'm not sure what the specific need to understand month is in the case of airports, where you made two edits of a similar kind recently. Yojo98 (talk) 13:22, 22 September 2026 (UTC)
- I suppose you got a point but those pictures were over a hundred years ago and nothing about those on that article are different while here this is an athlete with multiple different types of uniforms and with significantly different looks as heâs aged on. Per WP:NOTPAPER, Wikipedia has no digital space constraints. A single word indicating the month does not clutter the page; it provides precise historical context that improves the reader's experience. I am just glad we came to a consensus regardless and youre right in terms of airports especially those that hardly within lengthy times. ~2026-50988-24 (talk) 19:08, 7 October 2026 (UTC)
- I have to add my two cents here. I've seen editors use MOS:CAPLENGTH to remove the month, no matter how it's presented. Myself, and I should have my head examined do doing this, but I leave the month present when all the caption info is on one line - Why? Because it's neat. Example: Corey Perry. I also leave it when it's neatly presented on two lines, example: Jack Eichel. BUT, when the month ends one line and just the year is on line two? No. It looks bad. Bringingthewood (talk) 21:43, 7 October 2026 (UTC)
- Funny by how you immediately went from âI am enforcing the sacred laws of the Manual of Style" to "But the lines look tacky on my screenâ
- Wikipedia uses responsive design. A caption that wraps to a second line on your specific desktop monitor might sit perfectly on a single line on a mobile phone, a wider screen, or a tablet. Deleting encyclopedic information (like the month) just because of how a line dynamically breaks on one specific monitor creates a major inconsistency across articles.
- A single calendar year contains trades, injuries, seasons, entirely different jersey variations (Home, Away, Alternate, "City" editions), and rapid physical changes. Leaving only the year hides essential visual and historical context from the reader.
- A single word providing the exact month (e.g., "April 2026") remains entirely succinct, respects MOS:CAPTION prevents information loss under WP:PRESERVE.
- For athletes, a single year is a massive window; the exact month tells the reader which specific season, jersey variation, or phase of their physical career is being shown, as both uniforms and physical appearances evolve rapidly within a 12-month span. Per MOS:CAPTIONS, captions should establish the circumstances of the image, and a single word providing this necessary context does not create visual clutter.
- Respectfully, deleting accurate biographical data just because of a dynamic text-wrapping preference on one specific screen is not how Wikipedia guidelines operate. Wikipedia is built to be responsive, and content shouldn't be sacrificed for local aesthetics. Since the month provides genuine context for an athlete's career timeline, it belongs in the article.
- The solution to a bad line-break isn't information loss. It is about letting the responsive layout do its job. I am going to restore the month to the caption so it aligns with the standard context you leave for other players. Thanks again for the discussion and I am hopeful we can all make sure things are as good as they can be. ~2026-50988-24 (talk) 01:43, 8 October 2026 (UTC)
- Someone who knows so much, should really get a username and start to do some good work around here. Tinkering the rules to please yourself .. well, that seems like me having the page not look so good. I never changed the rule to satisfy myself, I just didn't want to start World War 17 with an IP user. I didn't immediately change my tune to anything, go back and read this: "Myself, and I should have my head examined do doing this, but I leave ..." I tell you what, I tried to be nice here, and I don't need someone dropping accusations, nor screw up Yojo98's page anymore. I'll have an administrator look at the situation and if I'm wrong, I'll walk away. Brother, that's the best you're going to get. I'm done for tonight, so don't waste a reply until tomorrow. Night-night. Bringingthewood (talk) 01:58, 8 October 2026 (UTC)
- You were actually pretty passive aggressive and he had already said fair point and it isnât tinkering with any rule to please myself. I am listing MOS related things like you are to back up points. ~2026-50988-24 (talk) 13:00, 8 October 2026 (UTC)
- Can you all please take this discussion to Evgeni Malkin's page or one of your own talk pages? I'm not particularly invested either way and the notifications are annoying. Yojo98 (talk) 13:01, 8 October 2026 (UTC)
