[edit]Tuesday 3rd November 2026 6.30pm to 9pm(ish)
[edit]Venue: The Canopi Coffee Bar, 59 - 61 Tudor Street, Cardiff, CF11 6AD
(join any time you can, no need to stay for the whole event)
What is this Wikimeet?
[edit]2026 marks 25 years since Wikipedia began. This is an opportunity for Wales based Wikimedians to share what they love doing on Wiki with other Wikimedians and maybe do some editing together.
Timetable
[edit]- 6.30pm - 7pm Snacks and welcome drinks
- 7pm - 8pm Presentations and lightning talks from Wales based Wikimedians
- 8pm - 9pm Time for communal editing or just socialising and networking with other editors. (You can edit from your phone, or bring your laptop!)
Speakers
[edit]- Jason.nlw - "Newyddion o'r Llyfrgell Gen a'r pwysigrwydd o olygyddion dynol yn yr oes AI" (News from the National Library and the importance of human editors in the age of AI)
- MumphingSquirrel - "An Eiffel-ly Big Adventure - editing the 72 women of the Eiffel Tower onto wiki"
- Ham II - "Amgueddfa Cymru on the Commons: Opening Access to Museum Collection Images"
- Paulpesda - a video presentation about the importance of Wicipedia Cymraeg and its editors.
What can I expect?
[edit]You can expect to meet some very keen Wikimedians, but this is also an open invite for anyone interested in finding out more about Wikipedia and its sister projects (in either Welsh or English).
Is this event in Welsh or English?
[edit]Both! Either! If you'd like to speak Welsh, Jason and Gemma are bilingual and happy to chat to you in either Welsh or English. Chat to your fellow Wikipedians in whatever mix of languages you like!
Whatever language/s you edit Wiki in (or would like to edit in), you are warmly welcomed and we will make sure you are included.
Finding us
[edit]The venue is in the town centre and a 5 minute walk from the train station. It's well served by public transport. There is information about bus routes and the nearest car parking at the venue's own website.
You can find information about (chargeable) secure cycle parking locations on the relevant Cardiff Council webpage and there is usually free cycle parking throughout the city centre.
We have the venue booked but if you're anxious, please message User:Gemma Coleman (WMUK) and I can give you my mobile number to help you find us on the day.
Attending
[edit]Please sign below if you intend to come. If you want a reminder closer to the time, please leave a note after your signature.
